Albertans value health care, social safety nets for the vulnerable, a good education and the opportunity to succeed. Value-based budgeting and surgically reducing government spending will free up the resources needed for the programs Albertans require.
We understand that balancing the budget will not be easy especially considering the significant increases in government spending over the past decade. As Canadians we value access to health care, social safety nets for the marginalized and poor, and we want a society that everyone has opportunity to succeed, we believe that starts with a good education.
We can only enjoy these activities if we can afford it. Increasing taxes and refusing to address the inflating bureaucracy are not methods that will create a sustainable future. Instead stimulating economic growth through a competitive tax structure and thoughtfully reducing government spending will both create wealth and direct resources to the programs Albertans require.
